The proposal for the New Cultural Pole of the Cavallerizza Reale was created as part of the International Competition, which was desired by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, and which saw our project among the three finalists.
The design of the New Cultural Pole at the Cavallerizza Reale aims to return this historic and lived-in area to the city of Turin and the people of Turin. The Cavallerizza is for Everyone. The Moscow Wing, the Pagliere, the Alfieriana Cavallerizza, the Stables, the Guardhouse with the different Courts constitute a succession of interconnected indoor and outdoor spaces full of life, art, and culture.
The first goal was to reconnect the individual buildings according to a global vision, and then relate them to the city and the Royal Gardens. The New Cavallerizza Pole thus becomes the unifying element between the dense urban fabric and the Green, Nature. In harmony with the directions of the PUR and the program of the Foundation, the New Cultural Pole will be an animated place, alive with experience, involvement and participation. Each individual building has its own strong identity – the Moscow Wing more representative/philanthropic, the Pagliere more artistic/social, the Stable with La Rotonda more museum/exhibitorial, the Alfieriana more cultural/performative, the Guard Corps more cultural/educational – but all together, with the outdoor spaces, generate a unified and articulated project.
