Originally built as a Military Arsenal, the Caserma “D’Azeglio” is an architectural complex on the outskirts of Bologna’s historic centre, near the Santa Maria dell’Annunziata convent. Built between 1850 and 1870, it has undergone several modifications over the years to accommodate its different uses, and today, it serves as a facility for the Carabinieri.
The complex covers an area of approximately 45,000 square meters and is surrounded by protective walls. In this historically significant setting, Politecna Europa was entrusted with a revitalization project aimed at adapting the site to modern administrative needs.
Given the monumental nature of the building, the guiding principle of this project is to preserve the current structure as much as possible, ensuring minimal changes to the historic configuration while carrying out the necessary interventions to protect the cultural heritage.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with Studio Progettazioni Integrali B.S. (SPIBS).
